First Grade Weekly Note October 8, 2020 Christ Light- I love sharing God’s Word with your children everyday at school. This week we have had awesome discussions about our gift of faith and putting on the full armor of God (Eph 6:10…). Ask about the “tennis ball” demonstration (receive the gift of faith or reject it like the people of Nazareth). Singing for church: First grade will be recording our class song next Wednesday to be used in the worship services next week. Hymn 353 “Praise the One Who Breaks the Darkness.” Read-a-loud We enjoyed “That Book Woman” this week. Tonight your child brought it home. It is a beautiful story about a woman who delivers books by horse to a family in Appalachia. We enjoyed the characters Cal and Lark! Math Stations: 1) Popcorn Doubles page 2) Doubles games 3) Doubles dotters 4) and geoboards. Science: We had a mini-unit this week on birds, mammals and fish. Peek at the completed booklet your child is bringing home today. Gym: Soccer! Faith First Grade Family Bike Ride Bring the family to the Festival Parking Lot on Saturday, October 17th at 10:00 AM. I would like to ride the bike trail together two miles north and then two miles back. I will arrange to have adults at the only two streets we cross (Ducharme Pkwy and Hwy K). All children must have bike helmets. Adult helmets are recommended. I hope this can be a fun, outdoor activity and a chance for you to get to know other 1st grade families. If the weather is crummy, let’s try again on Sunday, Oct 18th at 1:00 PM. Bring your own snacks and drinks.
