First Grade Weekly Note October 15, 2020 Christ Light- Your children loved watching this clip from The Chosen Huge Catch this week. Jesus says to us, too, “Come follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” We also discussed Jesus’ words about the “sick” needing a doctor. We appreciate our Dr Jesus curing our illness of sin. Singing for church: First grade recorded our class song Wednesday to be used in the worship services next week. Hymn 353 “Praise the One Who Breaks the Darkness.” If you have a hymnal at home, have your first grader sing the words at home and discuss the wonderful content. Read-a-loud We enjoyed Leo Lionni books this week. We also started reading “Junie B Jones.” Math Stations: 1) Coin Count 2) Qwirkle (see photo on Seesaw) 3) Domino Adding 4) and pattern blocks. Social Studies: Christopher Columbus Faith First Grade Family Bike Ride Bring the family to the Festival Parking Lot on Saturday, October 17th at 10:00 AM. I would like to ride the bike trail together two miles north and then two miles back. I will arrange to have adults at the only two streets we cross (Ducharme Pkwy and Hwy K). All children must have bike helmets. Adult helmets are recommended. I hope this can be a fun, outdoor activity and a chance for you to get to know other 1st grade families. If the weather is crummy, let’s try again on Sunday, Oct 18th at 1:00 PM. Bring your own snacks and drinks. PLEASE RSVP by text or email so I know how many to plan on. I have 8 families so far that plan on coming. :) Last day to contribute: Thank you for giving to our gift for our Adopted College student, Kalli W. You may still give tomorrow.
