First Grade Weekly Note March 11, 2021 Christ Light- But Jesus was pierced for (your name) transgressions, he was crushed for (your name) iniquities; the punishment that brought (your name) peace was on him, and by his wounds (your name) are healed. Isaiah 53:5 That verse cuts to the heart a bit deeper when I put my name in it. May we be led each day to see our need for Jesus and then look to the empty cross. The price for sin is paid in full and life eternal is ours. Christ Light Journal - Hopefully you noticed your child’s Bible journal sent home on Tuesday. It contained a collection of illustrations and main ideas from our Bible stories this year. Please take time to read and reflect on it with your child. Praise God for over 120 days together in His Word! I hope the journal finds a special place on your child’s bookshelf. Hymn of the Week: Glory Be to Jesus #103 We sang it in church Wednesday night, too. Read-a-loud- “Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge” by Mem Fox is a charming story about a young boy who lives next to a nursing home. When he finds out a special friend of his in that home is losing her memory, he brings a collection of objects to her that make her memories come alive. Simple Machines The class is getting a week of “hands on science.” The kids are learning about the different kinds of simple machines and then making/using them. I borrowed fabulous STEM kits from the FdL library. We are also using them in IE so the kids will have a few turns. Maybe over spring break you can find some 1) levers 2) wedges, 3) inclined planes, 4) wheels and axles and 5) pulleys. We will try to post pictures on Seesaw as we wrap up the study tomorrow.
