First Grade Weekly Note
August 29, 2019
Week #2 is nearly under our belts. We know the schedule well now and have adjusted to
life in first grade.
life in first grade.
Christ Light- Hooray! I think we are getting our red folders home Monday and Wednesday
night to re-read the stories. The kids agreed that the story of Cain killing his brother Abel
was dreadful. They asked some great questions and we had a wonderful discussion about
the ugliness of sin in this world. Praise God for sending Jesus to wash our sins away and for
taking Abel to heaven! Our hymn of the week is “I am Trusting You Lord Jesus.”

Reading Street- We have also completed our first week in our new reading book. In the
weeks ahead I will add components to meet our varied reading/spelling abilities. All the kids
enjoyed our poems and songs, and Amazing Words (vocabulary)- needs, shelter,
responsibility, tickle, cuddle, heel and faithful. We also did some reading with a partner.
Ask your child who his/her reading partner is. Our theme this week was “What do pet need?”
