First Grade Weekly Note March 28, 2019
Christ Light Jesus’ Crucifixion account is well summed up with his Seven Words (sentences) on the Cross. We talked about each of them and whom he was talking to. Through it all he showed his steadfast love and compassion for us.
Spelling Test tomorrow.
Ava R is a new big sister. Welcome little Charlotte!
Read-a-loud Today I read the Josefina Story Quilt. It is a book about a pioneer girl traveling west with her family. Ask about her trouble and the memory quilt. It is a favorite of mine, but took a long time for the inter-library loan to get it to me. We are also digging deeper into the content of our class book, Brave Irene, about a young persistent girl who endures the wind and snow to deliver a dress her mother made to a duchess. I do not have a copy of the book for every student, but if you would like to enjoy it with your child here is a link. Mr. Al Gore does a nice job reading it. :) Brave Irene
IE The students 1) Posted work to Seesaw 2) Read and wrote about Geronimo Stilton in our Fabulous First grade journal 3) Practiced spelling various words.
First Grade sings Wednesday, April 10 at 3:30. This is the final Lenten service.
Science We are wrapping up our simple machines unit. Wednesday we did only “hands-on” stations with pulleys, gears, inclined planes, levers and screws.
Fine Arts Fair on April 12! Plan to attend that night. First grade will be performing as a class right at 6:30! Our talent will be bucket drumming. :)
Special Visitor Ms Sharon, a friend of Nicole Keifenheim’s, came to the class on Wednesday. We wrote cards to her about a month ago as she battled an illness. She was very touched and wanted to visit. She read two great books and expressed her appreciation. We also sang Lamb of God.
Congrats Max! He just completed his Xtra Math addition facts!
