Welcome Back! It was great to get back in the swing of things today and your children were ready. They earned 2 letters on our incentive chart for their attentive, hard work this morning.
Bible: Read 6A Jesus Heals a Blind Man
Reading: We learned a new spelling rule today. CVVC words where the first vowel is long and the second vowel is silent, like in rain and seat. The kids enjoyed my bin full of new library books. Everyone took home a book to read tonight, too.
Math: We started -2 today and reviewed lots. Do lesson 68B
Science: We reviewed simple machines and used "telephones" with string pulled tight between two kids. Ask about what they could hear when the string was tight (vibrating) and when it was loose (not vibrating). Tomorrow we will finish this unit on energy and motion.
We also did a few pages in our First grade Journal and reviewed what adjectives are. The students thought of 12 adjectives for my snowman (poster).
A January calendar was sent home.
