First Grade Weekly Note                  January 24, 2018

I am back and feeling much better!  Thank you, Mrs. Abby Midthun, for subbing for me.  I hope the whole class is back to feeling great soon.  

We are celebrating Christian Education Week.  What a BLESSING to share Jesus on a daily basis!  A culmination of the week is Visit Faith Day on Friday and singing in any one of the services this weekend.  Your child has been practicing these wonderful songs.  Head over to WLA after church on Sunday for concerts, food, a silent auction, kids games and lots of FUN.  “Let’s Celebrate” is the event.   

Come see our Names of Jesus art and writing in the hall.  Our Spirit Week banner is hanging in the gym.  Peek at that, too.  If you can only come for a few minutes on Friday, do so.  It means the world to your child!  

We are starting our new hardcover Superkids book next week!  

The next SPELLING TEST is Friday, Feb 2nd.

Our 100th Day of School is on Monday, Jan 29th.  We will have special events that day if you want to plan to attend.  The google doc has been sent.  Here is a link. 100th Day Info and Sign Up  

Your child should bring in 100 items (of the same thing), like 100 legos, or 100 buttons…  I don’t care what they are, but they should fit in a shoebox. :)  

You may bring those in starting tomorrow, so they are not forgotten on Monday.  The 100 items could also be put on a poster board (or t-shirt).      

Spingle Spangle Talent Show  The 1st grade will have a classroom Talent Show this Friday, Jan 26 at 1:00 PM (Visit Faith Day).  Each child will get an opportunity to perform a talent (read a poem or favorite book, tell jokes, play piano, jump rope, show something he/she made and tell about it… a science demonstration, a collection, a recipe or art project).  Practice at home.  It will be a surprise to all of us on Friday!  

Book Order Catalogs were sent home last week.  Return the slip or order online.  Use my class code GVM93.   Due tomorrow, Thursday, night.  

Class JUMP ROPE Performance We (only 1st grade) will perform at halftime of the B Boys game this Friday night, January 26th.  Come by 5:15, and have your child put on his/her gym shoes.  I will gather the group in the cafeteria (then mezzanine) so we are ready to jump!
