First Grade Weekly Note December 7, 2017
Book Orders are due tonight! One final order will be made before Christmas. I can “hide” these gifts from your children, too. Scholastic code GVM93
Christmas Party on Dec 22- Following our service at 9:30, the class will have a party. The Room Moms are planning some fun games and food. Please have your child buy a $5 GIFT. Girls, buy for a girl, boys buy for a boy. Simply label the tag “For a girl” or “For a boy.” You may bring these to school anytime!
Christmas Service We are working hard on our Christmas service (recitations and songs). We will start practicing with the whole school on Monday. I can’t wait to put it together. The whole school will be in both services. Parents, grandparents and friends are asked to attend these services on Christmas Eve Day (Dec 24th). Child’s Last name A-L 8:00 AM and child’s last name M-Z at 10:00 AM. The Friday, Dec. 22 9:30 service is also a great option for relatives.
ART We will be doing a cool sewing art project next week that involves a Christmas card with baby Jesus on it. Please send one card (or extra if you have them). Other Biblical characters may be on the card (wise men, Mary, Joseph…) Jesus is the must. :)
5th-8th Spelling Bee is next Wednesday at 1:30. Our class recently took a written test. Our class winner will be announced soon.
Science We have begun learning about and using simple machines. Levers- yesterday and pulleys today. Next week? Wheel and axels, inclined planes, and wedges. Lots of “hands-on” learning fun. TRY finding/making some at home, too.
