PAJAMA DAY tomorrow!  The class earned this behavior reward one letter at a time. :)  Slippers welcome.  NO stuffed animals or pillows.  We will also stay inside all day, so do not worry about snowpants or boots.

Report Cards will be sent home tomorrow.  Today I sent home several assessments that are loaded with information about your child’s work and learning.
MATH- see the recording sheets from our math tests.  I marked your child’s errors and we have been reviewing to master the material.
READING- You will see the pink SIGN and RETURN STICKER on the stapled pages.  Peek at those.  It is a detailed record of your child’s reading fluency and comprehension.  I love listening to your children read, observe their progress and record their responses.  First graders should be reading at about a level G right now, level I/J at the end of the year.
WRITING- See the rubric I filled out based a several samples of your child’s writing.  We will continue to work on adding details, telling events in order, following rules (capitals and punctuation marks), applying spelling patterns we know, and writing neatly.

Please, only return the Reading pages.

Field Trip  We are going to the play Mr. Popper’s Penguins on Tuesday, Jan 9th.  We will start reading this chapter book in class tomorrow.  :)  Your child brought home a slip today to order lunch at McD and pay for the ticket.  Return the slip by Friday so the order can be places.  Thanks.

January Calendar will be sent home tomorrow with the Offering envelope.

THANK YOU again for the wonderful Christmas gifts and cards.  The kids were excited to share with the class 2+ things they did over vacation.  The extra time with family was a blessing.
