Monday

We welcomed Monday very well in first grade.  The kids were excited to share their weekend highlights during our morning meeting time.  Half the class has new "jobs" and half the class has the week off.  Ask your child.  We also we delighted when the "Cookie Lady" showed up.  Her Lamb cookies were so cute and delicious!

Christ Light: Read story 5A, John Baptizes Jesus.  Ask about the Trinity, three persons of God, present at Jesus baptism.  MT Mark 10:45 The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve!

Superkids:  We practicing our memory words and pattern words.  See the back side of the homework chart.  Spelling test Friday on these words.  We also read a great poem, "Ettabetta's Radish Patch."  Finally we found rhyming words in the poems.

Poetry:  Read the new Apple poems this week.

Math:  Lesson 17.

Reading Stations:  We did our final reading stations, too, so I will set up new ones.

Reading Book Bags sent home:  I am sending home leveled readers with your kids in ziploc baggies.  These are books I choose that they should read to you.  On nights when I send those home, they will not bring home library books.  Sign the chart and return them tomorrow.  You may certainly read more of your own books at home, since our readers can be short.

Science:  We finished our Animal unit today by taking the assessment.  I will record those grades and send them home.  I know we learned a lot and loved learning all about animals.  Next up? Plants!

Gym:  Ask about our new game "Statues and Runners."  Music:  The kids were working on their song for Grand Day, October 7th.  Oops- I will try to get the invites home to you tomorrow!!!
