Mrs. Jahnke and Mrs. Monroe were lifesavers today. I have a bad case of laryngitis. The kids did a great job as we changed things up a bit. The were generally very quiet and attentive! Can I pretend I always have laryngitis?
Bible: Review of Bible lesson. Daniel and Belshazzar.
Reading: Read "A Case of the Mystery Monster" in Superkids.
Math: Lesson 129. New-Subtraction, one half of doubles. 14-7=7, 10-5=5
English: Review of contractions.
Writing: We read two pieces on the Smartboard and talked about the characters, setting, problem and solution in Bryce and Lilly's stories from last week. They were fantastic models. We also did a little editing, making a few changes to make it even better. I heard, "Bryce, you wrote that?" :) Yes!
These stories were sent home in the writing assessment last week.
Social Studies: We listened to (and watched) the book Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters. It is a version of Cinderella with an African twist. Another favorite book of mine. :) Ask to see the Venn Diagram we wrote to compare these two stories.
